3-K & Pre-K for All Programs:

In New York City, children begin 3-K in the calendar year they turn three and Pre-K in the calendar year they turn four. At Cortelyou Early Childhood Center (CECC), we offer 3-K & Pre-K for All programs across our various locations. CECC is a contracted provider with the NYC Department of Education and admission into this program is through the NYC DOE MySchools application portal (https://www.myschools.nyc/en/). 3-K & Pre-Kindergarten programming prepares your student for a successful transition into Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, respectively. Your child will be socially, emotionally, and academically prepared for their academic journey through K-12th Grade.

3-K for All programming operates from 8:30am-2:50pm, while Pre-K for All programming operates 8:00am-2:20pm. We offer early drop off for both programs and extended day services for an additional fee. If you would like more information about the 3-K & Pre-K for All application process, please check out the DOE Website (click here: 3-K or Pre-K). For any additional questions, give us a call at 718-282-6077.

We recognize the importance of fun as it allows children to explore, negotiate, develop relationships and ultimately learn. We promote constructive learning through inquiry and exploration. Throughout the day, we provide literacy-rich experiences to promote children's literacy learning including Oral Language Development Activities, Interactive Read-Alouds, Shared Reading, Interactive Writing, Shared Writing and lots of Singing! We equally support our children’s numeracy learning using math in everyday situations throughout the day. They learn about shapes through the use of math manipulatives or by tallying their friends favorite ice cream flavor to use the information to create a graph to identify the class' favorite flavor.

Teachers bring social and cultural studies to life by taking children on excursions to explore their neighborhood, the local fire station and community library. On-site trips from Alley Pond Environmental Center, Theatre Companies and Music lessons are just some of the additional programming included in your student's day. Science is made relatable through interactive projects where students form and test hypotheses. One such exciting project is “Can We Melt Elsa’s Hand,?” which goes along with the popular children’s movie Frozen. These interactive learning exercises coupled with music, dance and singing excite CECC children about coming to school every day.
